Job Description:
The Temerty Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto and the Division of Geriatric Medicine, Department of Medicine at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre are seeking to recruit a qualified academic geriatrician who would fulfill the academic position description of a Clinician in Quality and Innovation. The successful candidate must be eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor. It is expected that the position will be 65% clinical and 30% related to research, teaching, quality improvement initiatives, and 5% administrative duties. The expected start date is July 2025 or a mutually agreed upon date.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will hold an MD degree and have, or be eligible for, certification in Geriatric Medicine by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.
The successful candidate must have demonstrated clinical excellence in geriatric medicine. For the Clinician in Quality and Innovation position, academic interest in quality and innovation will be demonstrated by advanced training and specialization in quality improvement and innovation. Excellence will be assessed by successful quality improvement initiatives, evidence of practice innovations, publications in leading journals, presentations at significant conferences, awards and accolades.
Responsibilities :
This position will support the need for quality and innovation in the diverse geriatric medicine clinical practice settings, including inpatient and outpatient venues across the campuses of Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. A history of developing collaborative partnerships related to quality and innovation with various healthcare teams, organizations and community agencies will also be an asset. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in the undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programs of the University of Toronto as appropriate.
Remuneration:
Estimated remuneration will be in the range of $389,000 (fee for service/alternate funding plan estimate) commensurate with academic rank, qualifications and experience, and we expect the candidate to be eligible for the Ontario Geriatric Medicine AFP. The successful candidate will be eligible for membership in the Sunnybrook Department of Medicine Association practice plan, through which clinical billings and benefits will be administered. The candidate will be able to participate in the department’s group medical, dental and life insurance benefit plans.
