The Department of Psychiatry has established a standard of excellence in its academic endeavours that has grown out of the development of strong divisions with committed leaders. There is overlap and collaboration across the divisions, ensuring a strong centralized academic department; the divisions also provide opportunity for individuals with specific interests and expertise to thrive academically. Each academic division has a strong link, through membership, with clinical programs in our affiliated teaching hospitals and research institutions. Our affiliated teaching institutions include London Health Sciences Centre, Children’s Hospital, St. Joseph’s Health Care London, the Child and Parent Resource Institute, and Madame Vanier Children’s Centre. Our research affiliations are with Lawson Research Institute and London Health Sciences Centre Research Institute.

The Chair/Chief/Head will have the vision to expand the strengths of integrated clinical, teaching, and research programs. The successful applicant must have a strong record of clinical service, quality improvement, operational effectiveness, and leadership in both clinical and research activities. Furthermore, the successful candidate will have demonstrated excellence in scholarship and the vision to expand the strengths of integrated teaching and research programs of the department. Ideally, they will have prior experience leading and supporting Clinical Services, including quality, patient safety, risk, and operations. Additionally, they must have a record of building and strengthening relations with diverse populations within the community. They will be an excellent communicator, collaborator, and leader with the ability to expertly manage multiple key priorities across the University, the hospitals, and partners in the community and beyond.

Qualifications:
The successful candidate must be an accomplished clinician with an MD or equivalent and eligible to be  certified as a member of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and eligible for licensure in  the Province of Ontario. Compensation will be based on qualifications and experience and will be composed  primarily of the following sources: fee for service, alternate funding plan, and academic support. The  successful candidate will hold a full-time continuing Clinical Academic appointment at the rank of Associate or  Full Professor. The position is an initial 5-year term, normally renewable once.

LHSC’s mental health and addictions program provides acute inpatient and ambulatory mental health and addictions services for adults and  children. All of our services are provided by a highly specialized inter-disciplinary team.
