LCPE and Projet de loi S-5

Le 13 juin 2023, le projet de loi S-5, Loi renforçant la protection de l’environnement pour un Canada plus sain, est devenu une loi. Ce projet de loi modifie la Loi canadienne sur la protection de l’environnement (LCPE) afin, entre autres, de reconnaître que chaque personne au Canada a droit à un environnement sain.

Le gouvernement fédéral dispose de deux ans pour créer un cadre de mise en œuvre en consultation avec les peuples autochtones. L’AMIC coordonne trois projets dans le but de recueillir le plus grand nombre de voix possible. Ces projets sont financés par une subvention d’Environnement et Changement climatique Canada.

Projet de loi S-5 Enquête auprès des membres de l’AMIC

Vous recevrez le 4 mars une invitation à répondre au sondage des membres de l’AMIC sur le projet de loi S-5. Cette enquête a été créée par l’un de nos étudiants indigènes membres, dans le but de s’assurer que tous les membres de l’AMIC ont la possibilité de donner leur avis. L’enquête sera ouverte jusqu’au 29 mars 2024.

Rassemblement des aînés sur le projet de loi S-5
Le 12 avril, nous rencontrerons sept aînés d’un océan à l’autre à Vancouver, en Colombie-Britannique. Nous écouterons nos aînés et apprendrons d’eux, afin de nous assurer que leurs voix soient incluses dans notre rapport sur le projet de loi S-5, qui modifie la Loi canadienne sur la protection de l’environnement (LCPE).

L’AMIC organise deux tables rondes virtuelles – tous les membres de l’AMIC sont les bienvenus et sont encouragés à y participer. Nous envisageons un dialogue sain où les membres peuvent partager leurs pensées, leurs idées et leurs questions. Une carte-cadeau uber eats de 50 dollars sera offerte à tous les participants après l’événement. Veuillez ne vous inscrire qu’à l’une des tables rondes.
