Join the IPAC Board

The Indigenous Physicians Association of Canada (IPAC) is seeking Expressions of Interest from members interested in serving on the Board of Directors.

Following the 2026 Annual General Meeting, the Board is seeking to appoint one Physician Director and one Postgraduate Trainee Director to fill current vacancies until the 2027 Annual General Meeting.

Serving on the Board is an opportunity to contribute to the governance and strategic direction of IPAC while supporting Indigenous medical students, postgraduate trainees, physicians, and communities across Canada.

This is an opportunity to:

• Provide leadership to a national Indigenous physician organization
• Help shape Indigenous health and medical education
• Contribute to meaningful change for Indigenous learners, physicians, and communities
• Bring your experiences, perspectives, and voice to Board discussions and decision-making

IPAC welcomes Expressions of Interest from members with diverse experiences, perspectives, and areas of expertise.

Current Vacancies

Physician Director (1)

Physician Director is defined in our bylaws as consisting of Indigenous persons who are currently licensed to practise, or who have previously been licensed to practise, medicine in Canada and who are in good standing. For greater certainty, “in good standing” means that the individual’s medical licence has not been revoked or surrendered in lieu of disciplinary action by a medical regulatory authority in Canada.

Postgraduate Trainee Director (1)

Postgraduate Trainee Member Director (formally called Resident Member Director) is defined in our bylaws as consisting of Indigenous persons currently appointed to a postgraduate medical education program at an accredited Canadian medical school. I.E. medical residents and medical fellows.

What to Expect

Expressions of Interest will be accepted until June 19, 2026, at 11:59 PM ET.

Following the submission deadline, the Board of Directors will review all submissions and consider the skills, experiences, perspectives, and needs of the organization in making appointments.

Successful candidates will serve until the 2027 Annual General Meeting and will be eligible to stand for election by the membership at that time.
