Virtual Screening and Conversation – Nechako: It Will Be a Big River Again
January 21, 2026 at 6:00 PM ET / 3:00 PM PT | 📍 Zoom
Join us for a virtual screening of Nechako: It Will Be a Big River Again, followed by a 30-minute Q&A with filmmaker Dr. Lyana Patrick (Stellat’en First Nation).
Dr. Patrick, a PhD and award-winning filmmaker, will share insights on the film and speak with IPAC members about restoration, land, and Indigenous resilience.
Nechako follows the Stellat’en and Saik’uz Nations as they fight to heal their river and protect their way of life. When the Kenney Dam diverted 70% of the Nechako River in the 1950s, it devastated the watershed and the communities who depend on it. The film traces decades of resistance, legal action, and the ongoing work to restore the river and sustain community life.
It’s a powerful story of hope, resistance, and the enduring strength of Indigenous Nations facing environmental harm.
