Island Health is looking for candidates who enjoy collaborating with the multidisciplinary Geriatric Specialty Services Team, including Geriatric Medicine, Nursing, Social Work and Occupational Therapy. Clinical services provided might include consulting status for outpatients, psychotherapy, pharmacotherapy, direct and indirect care, multidisciplinary team leadership and medico legal expertise as required by the BC Mental Health and Adult Guardianship Acts.

The division is strongly committed to undergraduate and postgraduate education. Clinical faculty appointments are available for all geriatric psychiatrists through a joint application to the University of Victoria Island Medical Program and University of BC Faculty of Medicine. Opportunities exist to teach Medical Students, Family Practice and Psychiatry Residents.

Remuneration:

  • Fee-for-Service,
  • Sessional billing
  • MOCAP

May be eligible for additional remuneration in accordance with the Rural Subsidy agreement. *Excluding Victoria and Nanaimo.

Education, Training and Experience: 

  • Eligible for Licensure CPSBC
  • Eligible for FRCPC 
  • Eligible for membership of Canadian Association of Geriatric Psychiatry 
  • Experience in collaborative, multidisciplinary, community Psychogeriatric care required

We are so excited for you, Michael! 🎉  Dr. Michael Dumont, former Vice-President of IPAC (Anishinaabe, Shawanaga First Nation), will be a keynote speaker at #PRIDoC24!  As Medical Director at Lu’ma Medical Centre, Dr. Dumont blends traditional Indigenous and Western medicine with a two-eyed seeing approach.
