Job Description:
St. Michael’s Department of Family & Community Medicine (DFCM) and Academic Family Health Team are inviting applications from qualified family physicians for a full-time academic position that includes providing comprehensive family medicine care with a focus on family medicine obstetrics.
Qualifications and Experience
- MD and CCFP certification
- Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario
- Fellowship or enhanced skills training in Family Medicine Obstetrics preferred
- Eligible for an academic appointment with the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of Toronto
- Demonstrated commitment to teaching and academic scholarship
- Experience and/or demonstrated interest in working with marginalized populations in an downtown urban setting
Clinical and Academic Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive family medicine care, including full-scope family medicine obstetrics
- Participate in the Family Medicine Obstetrics (FMOB) call group
- Teach undergraduate and postgraduate learners
- Contribute to academic activities within the department
About St. Michael’s DFCM and Academic Family Health Team:
St. Michael’s is a fully affiliated teaching hospital of the University of Toronto and part of Unity Health Toronto, alongside St. Joseph’s Health Centre and Providence Healthcare.
The Department of Family and Community Medicine and Academic Family Health Team is a large, dynamic, and diverse group comprising five clinics in Toronto’s downtown core, serving approximately 50,000 patients. The physicians are members of the St Michael’s Family Medicine Family Health Organization (FHO). The successful applicant may be able to join the FHO with the opportunity to build a practice under Income Stabilization if eligible.

Family Medicine Obstetrics Group:
Our FMOB group is:
- Highly collegial and well-supported by in-house Obstetrics and Pediatrics teams
- Structured around a home-call model (call expectations shared across the team)
- Supported by pooled billing, ensuring income stability
- Eligible for additional funding and stipends, including:
- HOCC funding (shared across team members)
- Teaching and supervision stipends
- Partial reimbursement of CMPA fees related to obstetrics
- Opportunities to participate in an early pregnancy management clinic
