Description:
The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) is the largest employer in the province of Saskatchewan, employing over 47,000 individuals, including physicians and healthcare professionals. It provides province-wide delivery of safe and high-quality healthcare services. Guided by a commitment to enhance healthcare for residents, the SHA focuses on improving coordination of services to ensure that individuals receive appropriate care—at the right time, in the right location and from the right provider. By implementing a unified, provincial approach to healthcare planning and delivery, the SHA aims to create a more consistent and integrated experience for patients. SHA’s ideal size provides a rare blend of hospital, long term care, public health, and primary care services across urban, rural, remote and Indigenous communities. It also allows for scale, while at the same time the ability to connect personally with myriad partners, providing significant influence across the province. SHA is now seeking a new Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to lead its next phase of growth and innovation. This is an opportunity to work in a newly configured role set up for success and lead system wide impact and innovation.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, and as a member of the Executive Leadership Team, the Chief Medical Officer is responsible for developing and executing strategy in support of the overall business plan and strategic direction of the SHA. The Chief Medical Officer works in a co-leadership model with the Chief Operating Officer to lead the delivery of health care and meet the needs of patients. This relationship involves a complimentary decision-making relationship that includes setting strategic direction, operational performance, service planning, and delivery and continuity of services.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate is a physician leader with healthcare leadership experience including strategic medical leadership roles in complex health systems with multi-stakeholder environments. Known for their strategic leadership, ethical practice and professionalism, they excel in coaching, fostering innovation and promoting culturally safe, inclusive environments. The preferred candidate will have successfully developed and led
innovative programs with a strong focus on health quality improvement, demonstrating proficiency delivering outcomes through collaborative governance.
