The Department of Medicine and the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism at the University of Ottawa and The Ottawa Hospital is looking for part-time endocrinologists to join our team.

Responsibilities:
Under the general direction of the Head of the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism Department of Medicine, the successful candidate will join an established Endocrinology and Metabolism program and will be responsible for managing outpatients with diabetes, thyroid, adrenal, pituitary, general endocrinology, osteoporosis, lipids and bariatric medicine, and pregnancy related diabetes and endocrinology.

The successful candidate will participate in the Endocrinology in patient consultation service, and on call coverage. The individual will have the opportunity to take part in various ambulatory care clinics that include general endocrinology and/or diabetes clinics at our Endocrine and Diabetes Centre or telehealth /virtual (zoom) clinics and rotate on the Endocrinology inpatient consultation service. Opportunity may arise to participate in clinics based in other divisions (diabetes, pituitary, diabetes and pregnancy, bariatrics for example). They will be expected to participate in the Endocrinology and Metabolism on-call rotation on a regular basis. It is expected that they will actively participate in the teaching of fellows, residents and medical students. Clinical time commitment will depend on clinic availability as well as research and education career goals.

Qualifications:
The successful candidate must hold an MD degree; be a member of, or be eligible to be a member of, the Canadian Medical Protective Association; have, or be eligible for certification in Endocrinology and Metabolism by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada; be a member of or be eligible for membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association; and have, or be eligible for, licensure in Ontario. The successful candidate will be eligible to hold an academic appointment at the rank of Lecturer or higher at the University of Ottawa. Academic rank will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

The University of Ottawa and The Ottawa Hospital are bilingual institutions and therefore in the case of potentially successful candidates of equal ability, a bilingual (French/English) candidate would be preferred.

The Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism has 8 full time and 8 part time clinical members with numerous general and specialty clinics including combined pituitary/ neurosurgery clinic and thyroid cancer, osteoporosis, and special pregnancy clinic.

Terms of Employment:
The income for this position is derived from a variety of sources including but not limited to clinical billings (fee-for-service), salary support (AFP) as well as honorariums/stipends. Health and welfare benefits including extended health, dental and disability insurance as well as life insurance are offered to full-time physicians and part-time physicians with a commitment of 0.50 FTE and above.
