The Faculty Curriculum Undergraduate Accreditation Lead (FCUAL) serves in this capacity for the York University School of Medicine. Reporting to the Dean of Record for the School of Medicine, the role serves as a key leader in the strategic planning, development, implementation and evaluation of the Undergraduate Medical Education (UGME) Program. This role leads the development of a transformational curriculum that creates continuity with persons and communities across different care settings and leverages clinical training in interprofessional teams with nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, counselors, social workers and other healthcare professionals. The role builds and leads a team to develop undergraduate medical education, curriculum and the policies related to undergraduate medical education. As recommended by the Association of Faculties of Medicine of Canada (AFMC), this role coordinates the accreditation process for the School of Medicine’s UGME program, following the guidelines published by the Committee on the Accreditation of Canadian Medical Schools (CACMS). The role acts as the key point person on CACMS accreditation for the School of Medicine.

The role is responsible for the ongoing monitoring of the Data Collection Instrument (DCI) and Medical School Self-Survey (MSS) completion and connects with responsible partners for certain standard and element completion. The role maintains checklists for each element under the 12 standards, organizes the mock accreditation review, follows up on gaps identified through the mock accreditation and prepares for the preliminary CACMS accreditation.

The role works collaboratively with the Dean of Record and others to recommend external reviewers for the Accreditation process and co-chairs. The role serves as a member of various established committees, to address accreditation standards and elements.

To be considered for this opportunity, you will bring the following:

Minimum Education, Training & Credentials:

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) Degree.
  • Current license in good standing to practice medicine with the relevant provincial or territorial medical regulatory authority (e.g., the College of Physicians and Surgeons in their respective jurisdiction).
  • Eligible to hold an academic appointment at an accredited medical school

Minimum Experience:

  • 6 years related experience in medicine.
  • 4 years of medical leadership experience in an educational setting and/or healthcare setting.
  • Experience as a leader in a medical education program.
